About the Workshop
Performance Dates: October 21, 22, 23, and 24 at 7:30 pm.
Step inside Electric Neon Clock for an intimate live performance by A.S.M. Kobayashi that brings the exhibition’s stories of family, memory, displacement, and resilience to life.
Drawing from family archives and historical records connected to the forced displacement, incarceration, and dispossession of Japanese Canadians during the Second World War, Kobayashi transforms archival material into a deeply personal and immersive experience.
Presented within the exhibition at the Art Gallery of Mississauga, the performance combines storytelling, archival material, audience interaction, and a live score by Bradley Kurushima. Guests are invited to experience Electric Neon Clock not simply as an exhibition, but as participants in an unfolding immersive performance.
With an intimate capacity per performance, this unique experience offers a rare opportunity to engage more deeply with Kobayashi’s work and the histories at its centre.
Doors open at 7:00 PM, with time to mingle and experience the gallery before the performance begins promptly at 7:30 PM.
We will allow a 5-minute grace period for late arrivals. After 7:35 PM, we will not admit latecomers to avoid disrupting the performance.
Advance tickets are recommended as capacity is limited. A waitlist will be available once the event reaches capacity.
