About the Workshop
This in-person pottery workshop is presented in conjunction with our current exhibition Inside. Outside. Of., and is inspired by the ceramic pieces created by artist Shanie Tomassini that explore themes of ritual, renewable energies, and our relationship to the present and future.
In this workshop, participants will work with Toronto-based, artist and ceramicist, Luke Mohan, to explore the potential of clay to express aspects of personal introspection. Incorporating elements of hand-built pottery making, Luke will lead the group in a discussion on how we are connected to the world around us, and how these contexts shape our lives. They will be encouraged to consider the differences between how they see themselves compared to how they present themselves to the outside world, and learn how clay as a physical, transformative, and earthly material can enhance these explorations.
All materials will be provided, but participants are also welcome to bring their own apron or smock to use for this workshop.
Participants must be 16+ to attend this workshop. We will meet at the Hazel McCallion Central Libary in meeting room 3A.
The program fee helps cover costs and reflects your commitment to attending, ensuring a meaningful experience for all participants.
