Mississauga is one of Ontario’s biggest cities for culture and the arts, and it’s expected to only get better following a massively successful fundraiser from the Art Gallery of Mississauga (AGM).

The AGM’s Heart of the City Gala was an evening that combined exquisite art, fine dining, and philanthropy, with live entertainment and an auction featuring works by acclaimed artists.

The event didn’t just celebrate local art, it successfully raised over $40,000 in funds that will go towards helping the AGM continue hosting incredible exhibitions, educational initiatives, and highly accessible programming for everyone in the community to enjoy.

Thanks to the money raised, the Art Gallery of Mississauga says it will be able to continue its mission of bringing art to the community through free admission, low-cost programming, exhibitionsworkshops, and public engagement initiatives.

For those who missed it, the Heart of the City Gala was held on April 22 at the Art Gallery of Mississauga.

The special event was held to raise funds and celebrate all things local art, including a live auction where audience members bid on beautiful artwork by acclaimed artists Patricia Barrowman, Pat Clemes, Steve Driscoll, Fausta Facciponte, Robin Hollingdrake, Tom La Pierre, Allan Harding MacKay, Tazeen Qayyum, Jim Reid, Gary Taxali, Charles Jones Way, Winsom Winsom, and Shaheer Zazai.

Guests also took in a silent auction that offered unique experiences, luxury items, and collector-worthy pieces.

The evening was rounded out with a three-course gourmet dinner that brought together locally inspired flavours, an open bar featuring premium spirits, and live music and entertainment.

Heart of the City Gala was sponsored by Holt Renfrew at Square One, Doane Grant Thornton, The Daniels Corporation, Oxford Properties, Hatch, LiUNA! Local 183, Sam McDadi Real Estate, Erin Park Lexus, Silk & Snow, Cotton Candy Tangible Marketing Solutions, Creator at Play, INsauga, YourCityWithin, Sauga 960 AM, and CHK Real Estate.

Located inside the Civic Centre building at 300 City Centre Drive (across from Square One and the Living Arts Centre), the Art Gallery of Mississauga is one of the city’s top cultural centres, with a vibrant and dynamic gallery regularly showcasing the works of local, national and international contemporary artists.

To date, the AGM has mounted over 500 exhibitions and delivered over 6,000 education and outreach programs in their mission to make art freely accessible to all.
